BECOMING THE NEXT 'FIT COUPLE'

Ever wonder how all those beautiful fitness couples on Instagram manage to be so hot and in shape? Don’t we all… Well let’s start by not being the person scrolling through our timeline in hopes of one day becoming them. C’mon! Jump up off of your couch, get those running shoes out of your closet and start right now! Hold hands and keep strong by doing it together.

  1. MAKE A PLAN/SET GOALS

We understand that life is hectic when it feels like we don’t have enough hours in the day. Everyone has a schedule of his or her own. But you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish when you set a few hours aside to help yourself reach goals. Start by making short-term goals, something realistic. Sit down and look at both of your schedules, this way you can come to an agreement on what times you can both hit the weights together! Becoming a fit couple is not easy and will take a little sacrifice. But what goal or something worthy of obtaining isn’t? Make it a date! When you make it sound fun you’ll realize that the idea of going to the gym won’t sound as bad as before. If for some reason you don’t make it to the gym on a weekday, you can always jog around the neighborhood together. If there’s a will, there’s a way!

  1. PREPARE FOR SUCCESS

We’re sure you’ve heard of the famous quote “by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” This is as true as it gets. The easiest way for you and your partner to give up on your healthy diet is by having easy access to fast food when you didn’t pack your meal. Preparing your meals for the week might even be the way to go if you really run on a tight schedule. You can start by creating meals that you will both enjoy and never forget to pack snacks. Snacks keep you sane! Now remember, healthy eating doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to eat chicken, rice and broccoli everyday. This will lead you to becoming bored and make you crave all the bad food we’re trying to avoid. Let us let you in on a little secret… There are other healthy foods you can eat besides this! There are so many recipes you can find online or you can experiment and create your own. If you do, make you sure you share the recipe with the rest of us!

  1. BECOME EACH OTHERS MOTIVATION

It’s not easy to always keep that rush of excitement and inspiration you feel when you’re stalking your favorite professional athlete on social media. But if one of you is more motivated than the other, then you need to give your partner that extra push to remind them why you’re doing what you’re doing. Instead of getting upset at them for not following the rules, set the example. How? Stay on track with your meals, keep up the gym routine, share how you’re feeling and that you’re noticing results. Be the role model! Challenge them by creating small competitions to see who can lift a little heavier, run a little longer, won’t eat junk food during the week… Anything that you know will specifically work for you.

  1. CONSISTENCY

So now you’re at the point in which you’ve both reached your short-term goal. The 10 pounds are gone, where do you go from here? Well the ultimate secret to remaining a fit couple is staying consistent with it. The short-term goal is done and accomplished, but now you can move on to bigger and greater things! Don’t think of it as a routine and diet to lose weight, think of it as a lifestyle. This is how you will mentally prepare yourself to stay fit…and not just for the summer!

Remember to think of how much hard work pays off. Give it your all and who knows maybe you’ll be the next ‘fit couple’ on the fitness magazine covers!
